RL Computing Week
During computing week, Reception explored programming a Bee-bot . They have been using their positional language to help input instructions and direct Bee-bot to different destinations. At the beginning of the week Reception looked at some Bee-bot challenges where they had to think carefully about the route Beebot would have to go on to ensure he got home safely without bumping into any obstacles. As part of home learning the children created their own Beebot challenges to share with their class to challenge their peers to find the quickest route home for Bee-bot . The Reception classes have also been looking at how computers need simple instructions to make them work which is called an algorithm. The children have had great enjoyment role playing algorithms for everyday events such as making tea, brushing your teeth. They also made mazes and directed each other around it using clear instructions just like a computer would need. We had lots of fun!
