    Reading

All children from Reception to Year 6 should read every day. Children who are learning to read should be heard by a grown up. Children who are fluent may read independently and then talk about aspects of the book to a grown up.

    Literacy

Children will be given a set of spellings to learn. They should be looked at every day and written out on the grid provided copying the handwriting demonstrated on the left hand side. The children are also given a piece of writing to complete, the expectation of which varies across the school depending on the age of the children.

    Maths

Maths home learning will relate to the children's learning in class that week.  We use an online resource called Mathletics; the children will be set two to three activities a week that they are expected to complete.  A selection of problems to solve also forms the Maths Home Learning expectations.

Literacy and Maths Home Learning is set on Thursday and is due in on Tuesday. Daily spellings and number facts are sent home Monday-Thursday, the children are asked to complete a list each night and hand in to their teacher the next morning.  Spelling tests take place on a Friday.

    Key Stage Two Projects

All children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be given a project in the first week of a half term that will be due back in school in the last week of the same half term. The projects are designed to give the children the freedom to be creative and original in their learning. Projects may be presented in any way the children can think of including a poster, leaflet, power point presentation etc.

    Written work

All literacy and maths home learning tasks should be hand written in pencil or handwriting pen.
