National Assessessment Results
Children at the end of Year 2 (aged 6-7) take part in national standardised tests known as the end of Key Stage 1 Assessments. Until July 2015 children at this stage of school were expected to achieve a minimum National Curriculum Level 2 (known as a 2c) in Reading, Writing and Maths. Those children who achieved a Level 3 were therefore achieving above expected levels.
Children at the end of Year 6 (aged 10-11) take part in national standardised tests known as the end of Key Stage 2 Assessments. Until July 2015 children at this stage of school were expected to achieve a National Curriculum Level 4 in English and Maths. Those children who achieved a Level 5 or Level 6 were therefore achieving above expected levels. Children were expected to achieve a minimum of 2 full National Curriculum levels from the end of Year 2 to the end of Year 6. As of July 2016, the assessment system changed and the children are now assessed on whether or not they have achieved end of year expectations, rather than numerical National Curriculum levels. Progress measures are also calculated differently.
