Our Nursery
Welcome to Saxon Nursery
Our Shepperton based nursery is an integral part of the wider Saxon family, working alongside our Reception year group and supporting children in taking their first steps towards being school-ready.
Taking children from 2 years old we offer a wealth of opportunities to learn as they play whilst following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework in an engaging, creative, friendly and encouraging environment.

Our Provision
Our Nursery children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. You can read about this by clicking here. This child-led approach allows for 'teaching alongside' as well as direct adult-led activities, such as learning to count, sounds and letters. Children follow the Little Wandle phonics programme.
Our Facilities
Our Nursery occupies a purpose-built space within our school site.
There are a range of ways to stimulate learning and exploration through the outdoors. We seek to develop children's Mathematics and Language skills through this space as much as possible.
You can take a closer look at our facilities in the slideshow below:
Session Options
Our Nursery offers both 15-hour and 30-hour places.
We can provide 15 hours of childcare for eligible 2-year-olds through one of the following options:
- Early Learning for 2 year olds (previously known as FEET Funding) (subject to eligibility)
- Working Parent Eligibility Code
- Privately funded places, charged at £141.00 per week
For full details about Early Learning and the Working Parent Entitlement, please click on this click here to go to the Early Learning for 2 year olds & Working Parent Entitlements section of the gov.uk website.
While priority is given to offering the allocated number of 15-hour government-funded nursery places, we may also be able to offer 30 hours of childcare if spaces allow.
Families may access 30 hours in two ways:
- By using their 30 Hours Free Childcare entitlement
- By paying for the additional 15 hours themselves
The cost for the additional 15 hours is as follows:
- 2 year-olds: £141.00 per week
- 3–4-year-olds: £96.30 per week
We are not able to offer occasional days or less than the additional 2.5 days and refunds will not be given if a child does not attend for any reason.

The nursery offers two separate sessions. These are:

Family Testimonials
"Our experience has been extremely positive!
All of the staff have been absolutely amazing with my child since the very
beginning.
She has a very close bond with Mrs George who has gone above and beyond
for her in every way possible and I have no doubt that she would not be in
the position she is now had it not been for Mrs George giving her the extra
care she needed. We will forever be so grateful to her.
Mrs Burberry has also been fantastic with my child; she picks up on what she
needs straight away and is so kind and compassionate. She talks fondly of
her all the time!
She had some initial struggles settling in and other sensory issues which
were picked up and she has been supported with since.
I always felt that she was being looked after and cared for so well which
as a parent is so reassuring. You can see and feel how much the staff care
about the children.
We were also happy when Mrs Quintal joined the nursery, she has been amazing
with her and reassured her in the mornings.
Her speech has improved massively, as well as her independence. She has
developed a love for reading and painting, she enjoys role play now and
she’s become much more sociable and confident which is so lovely to see!
I honestly didn’t ever think she would be ready for reception, especially
as we were still having to drag her in after the May holidays but she now
walks in confidently with her bag and has no concerns leaving me which is
massive for her.
Any child that attends the nursery will be extremely lucky to have the
amazing teachers we did care for their children.
I honestly can’t thank them all enough!! "

"My son has grown into such a different child since attending Saxon Nursery. His confidence has grown in everything he does, and he so much more outgoing. He really was a shy child who couldn’t leave our sides when he started – now were lucky to get a goodbye once he steps through the door!
The Nursery has been such a great environment for him to enjoy learning and have fun at the same time. I feel much more confident in him being able to transition into his reception class, and this is down to the Nursery and the school taking time to use the school environment for playtime and lunch times etc. Getting him used to the surroundings and new faces. It’s such a good idea.
The staff have been amazing, and Mrs Butler and Mrs George in particular have been the two people he has felt comfortable going to when he is worried or upset (mainly in his first months).
All the staff should be extremely proud of what they have created at Saxon, it really is such a nurturing and fun environment for him and the other children, he has particularly loved using the outside areas, and learning about a different story each week, which has then been the base of more learning for him – ive been told so many facts about different creatures!
There is such a great variety of tasks and activities for them all to do and no day is ever the same for him. The stay and play sessions have also been lovely as we can come into their environment and see them enjoying learning and making.
I know he is really going to miss seeing you all day every day! But I’m confident that because of you all that he will also settle into Reception quickly and comfortably."
Mrs Fowler
